60 Seconds of Beauty

                                                     60 SECONDS OF BEAUTY

Where can you find beauty?  What is beauty to you?

Ed Video’s "60 Seconds of Beauty” community arts project aims to help Guelphites discover beauty everywhere, sixty seconds at a time.

Participants will be encouraged to record the equivalent of a sixty second ‘snapshot’ of an item, occurrence, or view which they see as beautiful.  The idea is to find the moments of beauty all around, in small moments and every day occurrences. Keep your camera steady, your focus clear, and show us what you see. You may edit your video or submit it as one continuous shot.

These videos will be presented on screens in various areas in Guelph.

Everyone, of all ages and experience levels, is encouraged to submit.  Submissions from aboriginal and marginalized people are strongly encouraged.

This is a community arts based project, offered at no cost to members of our community. No screening fees will be paid.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE:  Tuesday, May 1, 2012

ALL videos that meet the following conditions will be screened:

a/ videos must be sixty seconds in length, and represent the creator’s concept of beauty. Do not include ‘credits’ or ‘titles’ on your video. Ed Video will create a title card for each video.

b/ videos will be presented without sound. Your concept must be 100% visually based.

c/ Videos must adhere to Ed Video Media Arts Centre's mandate which promotes respect for diverse communities.  If you are unsure about your idea, contact Angus for clarification at the information below before creating your video.

d/ Video creators will be the owners and copyright holders of their projects, but give Ed Video permission to exhibit their video at 60 Seconds of Beauty events, for use in promotion of the project, and to include the videos (with proper accreditation to the creator) in documentation for grant reports and applications.

Participants will receive basic instruction, free access to video equipment, and a supportive artistic forum to create and present their own 60 second videos.   We are looking for people who will take this project out into their favourite spots and groups.  Any willing Ed Video member will be provided with a "camera kit” that contains the cameras to be used, minimal instructions, a means of transferring files, and a display unit that will show participants examples of other videos.
